Arts Center showcases the art of Shelby Johnson
Liberty Village Arts Center is happy to showcase the art of Shelby Johnson. Her work will be on display Sept. 11 – 30.
Shelby Johnson grew up in Elliston, Montana. She graduated from the University of Montana, Missoula with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and K-12 Art Education. Last year she travelled the state, and visited our Liberty County Sr. Center in Chester, as the Teaching Artist for Art Mobile of Montana, a traveling teaching exhibit of featuring renowned Montana artists. Currently Shelby works at Hunter & Co. Interior Design and teaches part-time at Stumptown Arts, a non-profit community arts center in Whitefish, MT. Shelby also continues creating highly inspired works of art in varied medium from her Whitefish, Montana studio.
“My work is inspired by environmental change and thoughts of the near future. I combine painting, collage, and drawing to create familiar, yet unsettling scenes. My series, “Canary in the Coal Mine”, explores personal fears through contemporary landscapes.”
Shelby will be exhibiting at the Liberty Village Arts Center in Chester, MT from September 11th through September 30th. Shelby invites all those who visited with her at her at the Senior Center back in November and all other local residents to come see her work.
