Fires hit local area last week

There were a few fires in our area last week with one of them doing serious damage to a home and neighboring garage. The field fires were largely caused by dry conditions and high winds and the cause of the house fire was undetermined.
It is that time of year, so keeping an eye out for fires and being careful with intentional burning is a must. March is traditionally a pretty dry month and, with little winter precipitation, this March is dryer than most. Caution is a must right now as we hope for good April rains signal the start of a good growing season.
Hopefully we won’t have many fires this spring and summer, but a lot will depend on Mother Nature.
The rains need to come!
This week precipitation is in the forecast, but it was also in last week’s forecast and very little fell. A couple of good, solid rain days could make a lot of difference as March turns into April. We can all hope it will soon be on the way.Posted: by OverlieP
