Knights lose season opener at home 52-26 to WSS

The North Star Knights opened their 2016 campaign at home against White Sulphur Springs. The Knights came out on fire and opened a 7-0 lead on a 3-yard plunge by Dylan Miller. Caden Richey caught the pass for a PAT. WSS answered right back and added the 2-pt PAT to lead 8-7. The Knights answered on a 6-yard pass from Cade Chvilicek to Keevan Borlaug and Borlaug ran in the PAT to make it 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter WSS answered on a 7-Yard pass to tie the game 14-14. WSS got the ball back and scored on a 2-yard run to go up 20-14. That was the score at the half.
WSS made it 27-14 on a 50-yard scramble for a score and a PAT run. North Star answered on a 7-yard run by Cade Chvilicek to make it a 27-20 game. WSS scored on a 60-yard run and a 3-yard plunge to go up 40-20 by the end of the third quarter. WSS added two scores in the fourth quarter to make it 52-20 before the Knights scored on a pass from Caden Rettig to Devon Miller from 24-yards out for the final margin in the game.
North Star had 153 yards on 36 rushing attempts and 146 yards on 10 of 25 passing in the game. Cade Chvilicek was 7 of 18 passing for 92 yards and Caden Rettig was 3 of 5 for 54 yards. Both had 1 TD and 1 Interception in the game.
Dyaln Miller had 26 carries for 146 yards, Cade Chvilicek had 8 carries for 8 yards. Each had 1 TD.
Devon Miller led the defense with 11 tackles. Cade Chvilicek, Bailey Spicher and Caden Rettig each had 5 and Keevan Borlaug had 4.
This week the Knights will take to the road to take on Custer. Game time is set for 7 pm on Friday.Posted: by OverlieP
