Letter to the editor: Some Facts and Some Thoughts
School Board members and Administrators are elected and hired to be responsible for ALL the students, the property, the financial condition and the liability of the WHOLE school. Parents and grandparents are concerned with their student(s). That goes a long way to explain the often seen differences in priorities and actions, policies and procedures.
Chester school no longer exists. JI school no longer exists. This is a fact. CJI exists as a blended school. Another fact. This is not going to change. Another fact. So deal with it. Accept it. Get on with life. It is what it is. This is only a school. It is just a stepping stone to the rest of the students ‘ lives. Parents need to accept this and deal with it and allow their students to do the same. Time is passing and the kids should be enjoying their school days, not concerned with what was. They need to be concerned with what is. There is no place in the school for anger and hate, meanness and rudeness, ALL the students are sharing the blended school CJI. Another fact.
As taxpayers we share in the ownership of CJI and as such I believe we are entitled to be interested, concerned and involved. The employees who accept a paycheck from CJI are also entitled to be interested, concerned and involved. BUT…as employees you also have a responsibility and an obligation to the business that is signing your paycheck. The school is buying your time, your talents, and your loyalty, as long as you continue to accept their paycheck. If you cannot be 100% supportive of your employer, then perhaps you should search out an employer who you can give 100% in return for a signed paycheck.
In your own home you are entitled to your own opinions, but when you work for someone else you are expected to promote the Mission Statement and goals of wherever you work, and that includes CJI. All the taxpayers, and parents of students attending CJI, have a right to expect that the students attending, ALL the students attending, are treated with respect and dignity, and that ALL of the administrators, staff and employees of the school support 100% the mission of the school where they are sending their children. They have a right to expect this. ALL of us have a right to expect this.
So…instead of the cup being half empty, why don’t we accept that it is half full… and do away with the negativity that is plaguing CJI, affecting not only the students but the whole of all our communities.
