Rockman Funeral Chapel now has new owners
Rlynn & Karen Rockman, who have owned & operated Rockman Funeral Chapel in Chester for 4 decades, have finally retired. They recently sold their business to Jim & Autumn Asper of Shelby.
The Rockmans grew up in Liberty County, attended Chester schools, and were married in 1965. Rlynn completed his funeral director’s curriculum at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where he earned his mortician’s license in 1970. They lived & worked in Minnesota until 1976, when they returned to Montana to open their own funeral establishment in Chester. This “Mom-&-Pop” business provided personal & professional funeral services throughout the Golden Triangle for the past 40 years and served well over 2000 families.
The Aspers came to Montana in 2014 from Idaho, where Jim managed a large mortuary in Spokane for several years. They purchased the Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby and have dedicated themselves in providing conscientious care to grieving families throughout Toole & Glacier Counties these past two years. They are excited to expand their business into Liberty & Hill Counties with the acquisition of Rockman Funeral Chapel, and will maintain the Rockman tradition of caring & compassionate services. The Aspers will continue to operate RFC as a full-service mortuary, including a chapel for viewing/services, a modern preparation room, a large display room with a nice selection of caskets/urns/vaults/headstones/funeral merchandise, and an attractive/updated automobile fleet. In addition the Aspers recently hired a licensed funeral director, John Lee, to assist them in their new endeavor.
The Rockmans also plan to assist the Aspers however they can during this initial transition period. Rlynn & Karen are delighted to transfer their business to Jim & Autumn, a young vibrant couple with lots of energy & enthusiasm, who believe in the value of funeral service. The Rockmans feel confident that Jim & Autumn will work hard to satisfy the needs of every client family who calls RFC at their “time of loss”. The Asper’s staff will be available 24/7 via business phone (406-759-5550) and cell phone (406-450-5291).
For those clients who have prepaid funeral contracts with Rockman Funeral Chapel, please rest assured that your trust accounts are active & secure. These pre-need arrangements are on file at RFC and will be honored, as promised, by the Aspers at time of need. If any of you have any questions/concerns about these accounts, don’t hesitate to call Jim or Rlynn (406-799-1978).
Rlynn & Karen would like to thank all of our faithful friends for placing their confidence in us throughout the years. We also want to express our appreciation to the many people who helped make our job easier – our awesome clergy, talented musicians, readers & eulogists, ushers & pallbearers, church ladies & cooks, and other church volunteers – local florists, special caterers, & newspaper staff – area physicians, nurses, aides, EMT’s, ambulance attendants, clinic staff, and sheriff/coroner personnel – cemetery workers & local grave diggers – other community volunteers who hauled tables/chairs and set-up/ cleaned/organized public buildings for funerals – and friends & relatives who “pitched in” whenever we needed help. Thank you for believing & trusting us all these years.
Rlynn & Karen will continue to make Chester their home, but hope to spend more quality time with their 3 children (Heidi/Jason, Hildee/Darren, and Hub/Jenn) and their 5 grandchildren (Jaeger; Asa, Ira, & Avi; and Vaughn). We’ll see you around the neighborhood in the years to come!Posted: by OverlieP
