Woods running for County Commissioner
To the people in Liberty County who are not familiar with me, my name is Joette Woods. I was born and raised in Montana. I have been a Liberty County resident for 15 years.
My husband, Bo and I have been married for 18 years and currently live on our farm 31 miles north of Chester. We are the parents of 5 children ages 5 to 16 yrs old. They are enrolled locally here at CJI Public School.
You might ask, “Where have I seen her?” I have served as an election judge here in Liberty County, also I have volunteered many times to serve at the local blood draw, our local food bank, and I have been licensed as a first responder/EMT for over 12 years. I am also active in the Bears Den Homemakers Club; we are a non-profit organization that proudly takes the funds we raise and invest them back into this community. Some of those community projects have included the Senior-Center, helping provide students in need with supplies, driver’s education program, 4H Club, and many other projects.
I have decided to run for county commissioner because I am interested in better understanding our local government, how it operates and functions and being an integral part of that process.
As a farm wife and mother, I tend to be both realistic and conservative in my budgeting and spending. I also feel I can bring a new perspective on budget ideas and help with the allocation of county funds. I am honest, diligent, open to new ideas and most important of all, teachable and willing to listen. I have no pre-conceived ideas about what goes on in the Commissioner’s office, however, I do have an idea about what their job entails.
I believe being a commissioner is more of an art than a science and I look forward to building strong relationships throughout the community. I also believe it takes hard work, common sense, and a willingness to see things to the finish.
“Why should you vote for me?” I am passionate about serving others at a community level, and would like to extend that to a county level. I will take the ideas and concerns of Liberty County’s citizens to heart. I won’t make promises, but I plan to make a difference where I can.
I will work hard, and I pledge to give my absolute best to the people of Liberty County.Posted: by OverlieP
